With the help of over 45 high school students from Winona Senior High and Rushford-Peterson High on a cool and windy Saturday, May 8, the Win-Cres Chapter of Trout Unlimited worked to remove woody debris, trash, and garlic mustard plants from along a mile-and-a-half-long riparian corridor near Farmers’ Park, along county road 109, and extending along highway 14 downstream.

Win-Cres TU members, Winona teachers, Rushford-Peterson teachers, Lewiston Sportsmen’s Club members, and other adult volunteers provided adult supervision. Also collaborating were Steve Klotz, area fisheries supervisor (MNDNR), Dave Svien, forester (MNDNR), and Jill Johnson (Winona County).
